The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and driven Quality Assurance Manager to join our Palmerston North manufacturing team. Reporting to the EHSQ Manager, this role is responsible for leading quality assurance and laboratory functions while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will work closely with operational teams to strengthen quality systems, reduce scrap, improve product performance, and ensure compliance with AS/NZS and ISO standards. Key Responsibilities include:

Provide technical support for manufacturing quality issues, supplier concerns, and customer complaints.
Maintain and improve quality processes aligned with AS/NZS and ISO standards
Support audits, certifications, and compliance activities, including IANZ requirements
Analyse defect trends and identify opportunities to reduce scrap and improve manufacturing performance
Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated, validated, and maintained to required standards
Liaise with suppliers and customers to resolve quality-related issues and support continuous improvement initiatives
Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality Assurance and Laboratory teams , delivering practical quality training and coaching to operational teams
Identify and manage quality risks associated with projects and product changes

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement, as well as:

Experience in a manufacturing setting and quality assurance desirable
Strong understanding of AS/NZS standards, IANZ laboratory requirements, and plastics testing methods
Experience within extrusion, injection moulding, or rotational moulding environments
Proven experience leading, coaching and mentoring teams
Experience using SAP or similar quality management systems preferred, but not essential
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively
Collaborative, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach
