Description

At Firth, we’re proud to be part of New Zealand’s building future—supporting communities with high‑quality concrete solutions. With a strong legacy in the industry, we continue to evolve with a clear focus on sustainability, innovation, and developing our people to thrive.

About the role
Join a supportive and collaborative team where your care for quality and attention to detail will make a real difference. As a Certified Lab Technician / Batcher, you’ll help ensure our concrete products consistently meet both Firth and New Zealand standards.
You’ll enjoy a varied, hands‑on role that blends technical testing with plant operations, contributing to safe, reliable, and high‑quality outcomes for our customers.

What you’ll be doing
  • Sampling and testing raw materials and finished products
  • Ensuring concrete meets required specifications and standards
  • Supporting consistent product quality across plant operations
  • Collaborating closely with your team to maintain smooth workflows
  • Contributing to a safe, organised, and supportive work environment
  • Handling materials and equipment as part of day‑to‑day plant activities

What you’ll bring
  • Strong attention to detail and a thoughtful, methodical approach
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and computer skills
  • A willingness to learn and grow your technical capability
  • A positive, team‑focused mindset and clear communication style
  • Understanding of concrete technology (or openness to develop this)

What’s in it for you
  • Excellent Starting rate
  • Career Opportunities
  • A wide range of staff discounts (PlaceMakers, Mico, PBTech, Southern Cross and more)
  • Access to the Employee Education Fund for you and your immediate whānau

At Firth, we value care, teamwork, and continuous learning. If you’re looking for a role where you can contribute, develop, and feel supported, we’d love to hear from you.

Research shows that females and minority groups don’t apply for roles unless they match 100% the job description.

We are proud of your diversity and see it as one of the things that make us stronger. We welcome your individuality and encourage you to bring your true self to work, so if this role is of interest but you feel you don’t fit it, we would still love you to apply.
