Description

Raylight Aluminium has been an industry leader in Canterbury aluminium joinery for over 50 years.

We are looking for an Aluminium Joinery Fabricator / Prep person to join our Wigram factory team, supporting the unpack, cut and prep area of production. Aluminium experience is not essential.

We are happy to train someone with low or no aluminium experience if they have the right attitude.

We are building a team where people work safely, back each other, communicate well and take pride in doing the job properly

About the role
This role is based in our Wigram factory and supports the front end of production, helping make sure materials are unpacked, cut, machined and prepared accurately before moving through to assembly. You do not need to know everything on day one. What matters most is that you are reliable, honest, practical and willing to learn

Daily responsibilities include
  • Supporting the unpack, cut and prep area of aluminium joinery production
  • Operating or learning CNC machinery used in aluminium joinery
  • Using or learning mitre saw operation for accurate cutting work
  • Using the forklift safely to move materials when required, or being willing to learn
  • Reading job sheets and following production instructions
  • Checking profiles, components and prepared work before it moves to assembly
  • Keeping the work area safe, tidy and organised so production keeps flowing

This is a permanent full-time role offering 40 hours a week. Standard hours are 6:00am–3:15pm Monday to Thursday and 6:00am–11:00am Friday

What we offer
  • Competitive hourly rate, with time and a half paid after 40 hours for those who want the opportunity to earn extra
  • A 4.5-day working week with an 11:00am finish on Fridays
  • Training and support for someone with low or no aluminium experience who has the right attitude
  • A strong team environment where people help each other and take pride in the work
  • A positive team culture where people work safely, back each other and take pride in doing the job properly
  • Staff benefits through the wider Fletcher Building Group
  • Opportunity to upskill and move across different areas of the factory

We are looking for someone who brings
  • A safe and responsible approach to work
  • Reliability, honesty and trustworthiness
  • A team-first attitude and willingness to help the people around you
  • Respect for the team, the workplace and the standard of work expected
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • A good eye for detail and accuracy
  • Comfortable using tablets or willing to learn, as we work from digital job sheets rather than paper
  • Aluminium fabrication, factory prep, machining, CNC, mitre saw or forklift experience would be an advantage, but is not essential for the right person

Pre-employment checks including references, medical, drug test and a Criminal background check is required as well as the legal right to work in NZ indefinitely.
